From doing this group assignment, I have learned a lot about myself and also the members in my team. One important factor that I missed out during this group assignment was teamwork. I was used to doing assignments and projects alone from high school until now. I found it quite difficult to communicate and we all had different opinions on how we were to finish up on the group assignments. This is how I found out that teamwork has to be very important in a group. This is because without teamwork, a group will not be able to co-operate and synergize with one another therefore work will not be able to get finished in a small period of time. We also had an extra member in our group who proved to be good in doing IT work which made it easier for us on deciding who had to create this website. I learned that responsibility and determination is what really drives a group in order for work to be done sufficiently. If we do not have these characteristics, there will be huge arguments and complications in a group especially if there are slackers and lazy members. One good thing I have learned in this assignment was to not let my other team members down. This is what drove me to finish and complete the tasks I was assigned to do and I believe they also gained the same initiative to do so. This is one of the reasons why I was able to finish up on my assignment during the duration period.

 

        Throughout the hard work and sweat given to complete the assignment, there were a few complications in the early stages. One of them was understanding the questions that were given to us for our assignments. We therefore had to plan discussions when we had problems answering the questions and gave out our own opinions in doing so. This made me improve my thinking and problem solving skills. This group assignment allowed me to think critically and even outside the box to order improve the marks for our group.  I was able to learn how important thinking and problem solving skills were needed for not only future assignments and homework but it was also something I needed to brush up in order to perform in the working life.

 

        Other than that, I also learned to improve my intrapersonal skills. I learnt to be responsible and even complete the assignment during before its deadline. When completing this assignment, my teammates helped me correct my mistakes. From this I was able to accept my mistakes and learn from them.  Responsibility is one a huge characteristic every person should have throughout their life if they are to successfully succeed.

 

        Last but not least, through this group assignment I was able to improve my communication skills. At first, it was awkward and I was quite shy in starting a conversation with my teammates. Fortunately, as time passed we were communicating and started discussing our group work with ease. We had no problem in communication as most of us were good in English which made it easier for us to discuss our assignment. This brought me out of my comfort zone as stated above I was used to doing things by myself. This made me realize that communication is very important especially in the business life when working with others. Communication to me is not only by talking to others but by learning new ethics and hand movements from other races.

 

        From completing the integrated assignment, I have learned how important it is to have some of the characteristics in Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities and how it would improve myself in the future. Improving my communication skills will enable me to not only understand others more easily but I will also be viewed as a much more likeable and friendly person. I consider myself lucky as I come from an English born family which gives me a slight advantage from others. Additionally, I believe that I will have to improve my intrapersonal skills as it would be the most useful characteristic in the future. This is because it will enable me to complete tasks given to me in a specific amount of time without me letting my colleagues down in the working life. Lastly, thinking and problem skills will give me a great advantage compared to other people as this skill will help me come up with ideas that are much more creative. I believe that this integrated group project gave me an opportunity to realize how important certain characteristics are which will prove useful in the future.
